Hi, I’m Matt. I’m a graphic designer working in Birmingham (UK) for the lovely folks at Emperor.  Since the pandemic I’ve been reigniting a love for painting, using Procreate.

My work is a combination of travel photography, thousands of painted layers, bright colour and a feverish obsession with abstraction. Each piece starts with photos I’ve taken on my travels, and is then broken apart and recombined many times over before I land on something that I feel expresses a sense of place. These prints are a culmination of hundreds of hours of painting, curation, editing, and re-combining.

I don’t use generative AI at any point in my process, nor will I ever. Even when working in a digital medium, I feel like the human connection is the most important part of what I do.
