Introduction
I was approached to construct a web app and brand for a service to help people find safe, fun and welcoming venues for their night out. The service was due to pilot in Edinburgh before being rolled out across the country. The student population was identified as the primary userbase - so the ensuing brand work brought in bright gradients and colourful photography.
Mobile
The mobile site was built to ensure flexibility in how users could find nearby venues. By either searching on the nav bar or by exploring the map, users could quickly find reviews and topline information, or post reviews and add key tags to help inform other users.
Desktop
The desktop site maximised the map view whilst isolating the bulk of the UI to the left side, allowing responsiveness and scalability across any screen size.
Challenges
App screens for the mobile and desktop build were completed and briefed into the web developer on the project. Everything was on track to launch in the spring of 2020, but then the pandemic hit. The project was put on hiatus whilst the venues of Edinburgh remained closed.
Conclusion
Despite the project being put on hold, the feedback received on the brand and app were excellent. It was a good learning process and was immensely enjoyable to work on a project from inception all the way through to developer handoff.
